Founded in 2008, the museum of Vassogne offers thematic exhibitions, centred on objects of daily life and the world of work. Our main mission is to preserve the tools and archives of different jobs as well as of the rural world.
« Objets inanimés, avez-vous donc une âme
Qui s’attache à notre âme et la force d’aimer. »
Alphonse de LAMARTINE, Milly ou la terre natale
Founded in 2008 by a man of passion, Stéphane Bedhome, following the advice of visual artist and stage designer Daniel Pillant, this museum has been concieved as a cultural site. Our ambition is to offer to people in rural areas an opportunity to get in touch with art through tools. Tools are a medium accessible to most of people, that allows to deliver a message visitors will receive according to their personality. This museum should be part of a genuine dialogue with other disciplines, other cultures and other times.
Mediation between the visitors and the collections, while taking their imagination into account, initiates the dialogue about social issues. Beyond technical aspects, tools, then transcended, are considered as a specific material to report on a particular period, thus allowing to question our own society : the natural environment, the relationships with others and globalization.
Redesigned for each exhibition, the scenographies aim at highlighting objects through four characteristics : their shapes, the materials, the colours and the movements. The subtle and accessible scenographies are created in order to reach all generations, mainly young people.
